After researching FEMA's knowledge base, their mobile app, and researching recent disaster scenarios, we set out to understand disaster victim needs. During Hurricane Maria, many Dominicans could not get through to emergency services, so they went to the internet for help. They tweeted, posted, reposted, and asked anyone who would/could listen for help. And they got a response, but it wasn't from emergency services. It was from each other.
Initial sketches gave us a good indication of the form and features the project should have. We were able to alpha and beta the paper ideas before moving forward with digital wire framing.
The final paper iteration helped guide us to a more completed prototype before we started building it within Adobe XD and InVision.
