About me

My design process attempts to identify struggle or conflict between humans and their environment, then understand the motivations that cause the struggle. Included in my research is the attempt to understand position and situations as it pertains to relationships, then ask questions about what is, and what can be. I am interested in more than solutions to problems; I'm very interested in predicting outcomes through design.

Design as a practice is widespread across many fields of study. I have seen amazing designs produced by groups of like-minded designers from various professional backgrounds. I want to explore how working with teams influences my design ideas and how I can learn from co-design or participatory design methods. Learning new perspectives, methods of thought, and design research ideas (especially derived from other areas of study) motivates me to break barriers set by preconceived ideas of design.

As new generations of designers emerge into the workforce, they will need new skills and methods of thinking to be viable matches for future technologies. My continuous goal is to push the boundaries of what designers are by educating myself with new research practices, learning new technologies, and integrating them into my own design process.

If you’re looking for specific details about my education and work history, you’ll find them in my resume.
